Kind Words for Ken Ludwig's
play Leading Ladies

"Ludwig’s newest comedy is so funny, it will make sophisticated and reasonable men and women of the 21st century cackle till their faces hurt."

— Houston Press

"Leading Ladies is a highly combustible and continuously hilarious new comedy by Ken Ludwig, Broadway's reigning comic writer."

— The Cleveland Plain Dealer

" Set in 1958, it's an old-fashioned play, reminiscent of a Noel Coward comedy. There are also large splashes of Some Like It Hot, The Foreigner Charley's Aunt and Twelfth Night in this cocktail."

— Laurie Anderson

"Want a sure-fire laugh? Put a couple brawny guys in heels and dresses and watch them try to prance around. Gender misdirection works every time, as it does so well in Ken Ludwig’s "Leading Ladies," which the Cape Ann Theatre Collaborative opened at the Groton Theatre ... Opening night of "Leading Ladies" showed that this will be another successful run."

Theatre Review:
 "Cross-dressing comedy 'Leading Ladies'
a hoot in Gloucester"

~ Keith Powers / The Cape Ann Beacon

Two English Shakespearean actors, Leo Clark and Jack Gable, find themselves so down on their luck that they are performing "Scenes from Shakespeare" on the Moose Lodge circuit in the Amish country of Pennsylvania. When they hear that an old lady in York, PA is about to die and leave her fortune to her two long lost English nephews, they resolve to pass themselves off as her beloved relatives and get the cash. The trouble is, just before they get to York, they find out that the relatives aren't nephews, but nieces.

"If it be now, t'is not to come. If it be not to come, it will be now ..."
